At JoyCup Academy we focus on tailored courses that work. We equip our students with the necessary tools they need to achieve. Our goal is to help you make the most of your time and not to waste it. Reading is fundamental to the learning process. In our experience we have seen students who are almost on their way to high school and can barely read.
Consequently, we place heavy emphasis on reading. In fact, one of our goals is to inspire and produce a group of young writers. The importance of great reading and writing skills cannot be overlooked or ignored. The foundation of understanding any educational material is being able to read and comprehend. Without these basic yet essential tools, the learning process becomes much more difficult than it should be.
Essential Skills that work
In order to help you and your child succeed with the essential skills they need, JoyCup Academy, under the guidance of Mrs. Jane Cornelius, offers courses in the following areas:
- reading – learn your tones and how to articulate and express yourself
- comprehension – learning to understand what you read
- grammar – how to use and what to use when writing
- spelling – sound and pronounce letters with all the secrets and tricks
- composition – the art of writing to get your message across
We also help our students with their numbers. It is often said that Mathematics is a difficult subject to understand. At JoyCup Academy, we do not believe or subscribe to that. We have the evidence to prove that with the proper understanding, anything is possible. Students need encouragement and the right skillset that will help them to approach any problem with confidence.
Before jumping into numbers, problems and solutions, we help our students understand that they can achieve anything they put their mind to. Where there is a will there is a way and we are here to help bring out the best in them. We give them the personal attention that they require to pursue and achieve their goals.
We guide them through the process and help them with not just recitation but with simple methods and strategies in the areas of:
- time and number tables
- simple addition and subtraction
- multiplication and division
- word problems
- practical applications
Different Levels
This is not a one size fits all solution. We understand that everyone learns differently. Therefore, our courses are designed to fit the needs of our students. We have beginner courses for those just starting out and we have intermediate courses for those who are a bit further along in their journey. For those who have mastered the basics, we also have courses that cater to their level and style of learning.
Something else we have noticed through our experience, is that students learn better when they can relate the subject matter to real life situations. As such we have constructed our course materials to include aspects of financial literacy. By so doing, we make our classes interesting, practical and fun. We focus on tailored courses that work!
